rocks

April 4, 2011

This week we are learning about minerals, rocks, and the rock cycle. I want you to find a rock outside, take a picture and post it on here. Also use the internet to find a rock classificatio key and tell me what rock you think it is and why you think that.

  1. Taylor Underwood Says:

I think the rock is classified as a clastic sedimentary rock because it has very small grain of other rocks in it. It looks like it brock off of another rock.

  2. Andrew Pavelka Says:

My rock is a obsidian rock. I think this rock is obsidian because it has no crystals and is all black. It is also very smooth it looks like you could peal it apart. It formed really fast becasue it has no crystals.

  3. Johnna Gifford Says:

I think that this is an igneous rock. It is red and black and has medium close to big grain size and crystal size. It looks as if it was once another rock a bigger one that was broken in to smaller rocks.

  4. I think this rock is a metamorphic rock because there’s no other tiny pieces of rock in it. The crystal size is small and there are no layers. It looks like it broke off another rock.
